Monitor Settings?

Me, for starters

Joking aside, I’m not an expert in this area. I just mentioned how it’s sorted. Monitor settings may be the only LXQt app whose code I’ve never read but I’ve never encountered a problem with it either.

Hi,

Modes are sorted by number of pixels in lxqt-config-monitor. I think is a good sorting, because each mode has more definition than the next one. The greater the resolution, the better the picture.

The preferred modes are in bold and they are supplied by KScreen. I don’t know how KScreen selects it, I think that KScreen ask to the kernel driver which are the better resolutions for the display.

I don’t understand you when you write «the current values». I think that you whan to be set in the combo box the current resolution of your display. The tool keeps the resolution values that you selected because is easier to the users trying the best definition for their displays.
