Robustness of LXQT on NFS based home dirs

(Uli) #1

I’m running Linux workstations (CentOS7) for about 90 users with home directories on NFS and I’d like to understand how more than 1 concurrent LXQT session on the same home dir may impact stability of the sessions, e.g. lead to crashes. Would be grateful for any insight or experiences.

Background: Currently Gnome and Mate are used and if users have more than 1 concurrent session (e.g. via VNC) we at times experience stability problems due to concurrent access to Gnome related files in the home dir. As we have long running computations depending on the sessions this is a problem. Thus I’m looking for a more robust/simpler desktop environment.

Many thanks,
